DockClockWeather provides a clock, weather display, weather alerts, and Android screensaver functionality. This policy describes how the app processes information.
Location And Weather
DockClockWeather stores the location you select so it can display local weather and alerts. If you choose Current location and grant Android location permission, DockClockWeather obtains device coordinates. Coordinates or selected-city coordinates are sent to weather services such as Open-Meteo and, for supported United States alerts, the National Weather Service. These requests are necessary to provide weather and alert functionality.
City-search text is sent to Open-Meteo’s geocoding service to find matching places. Device location lookup uses Google Play services, and the device’s geocoding service may process coordinates to resolve place names.
DockClockWeather does not sell location information or use it for advertising.
Optional Diagnostics
Share anonymous diagnostics is off by default. If you enable it, DockClockWeather may use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Firestore to process:
- App interactions, crash reports, stack traces, and app/device state.
- A random DockClockWeather diagnostics identifier.
- Identifiers generated by the Firebase SDKs.
- Device model, Android version, screen characteristics, locale, app version, memory, CPU architecture, time zone, and coarse city/state/country information.
Exact coordinates are not included in DockClockWeather’s custom Firestore device snapshot. Diagnostics are used to understand compatibility and improve reliability, not for advertising.
When optional diagnostics are enabled and location permission is already granted, DockClockWeather may obtain device coordinates and use the device’s geocoding service to determine the city, state, and country for that snapshot.
Turning diagnostics off stops future optional collection and clears pending local Firebase reports. Reset analytics ID replaces the local identifier and cached snapshot. Previously uploaded custom diagnostics may remain until removed through the support process described below.
Local Network Remote Control
Remote control is off by default. If enabled, DockClockWeather can exchange settings with a controller on the same local network. Those settings can include the selected place and coordinates. Pairing-code protection is available. Local-network traffic may not use HTTPS, so remote control should be enabled only on a trusted network.
Local Storage And Android Backup
DockClockWeather stores preferences, selected location, alert settings, remote-control settings, and cached diagnostics state on the device. Android may include app data in system backup or device-transfer services, depending on the device and account settings.
Notifications And Device Information
If enabled, DockClockWeather uses Android notifications for weather alerts. It reads the next alarm and battery state to display bedside information; that information is displayed locally and is not included in DockClockWeather’s custom diagnostics upload.
Retention And Deletion
Local app data can be removed by clearing DockClockWeather’s storage or uninstalling the app. For deletion of previously uploaded custom diagnostics, contact the support address below. Include the analytics identifier when available; do not send precise location, pairing codes, or other sensitive information by email.
Third-party weather and Firebase services process information under their own terms and retention practices.
Security
DockClockWeather uses HTTPS for internet weather, alert, and Firebase requests. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. The optional local-network remote-control feature may use plain HTTP and should be used only on trusted networks.
Children
DockClockWeather is a general-audience utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated when DockClockWeather’s features, SDKs, or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
